The Sunshine State

2009-2017

The Sunshine State is a series of color fields created to represent the current population of men and women on death row in the state of Florida (a state that holds the second largest death row population in the country).  The images in this series were created by taking state-provided materials and modifying them to remove all detail.  What remains are color fields reminiscent of both sunrise and sunset created by Florida's bright orange death row prison uniform, the color of each death row inmates skin and the bright blue

backdrop each was photographed against.
